Dr. Ashok Seth is the Chairman of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi, Chairman of Fortis Healthcare Medical Council, and Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at JN Medical College (Aligarh Muslim University). He has been a pioneer in Interventional Cardiology for the past 40 years, making significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research and education in the field. Dr. Seth has played a key role in developing angioplasty techniques in India and the Asia-Pacific region, including Impella-supported complex angioplasties, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), and Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL).
Throughout his career, Dr. Seth has performed over 25,000 angioplasties and 60,000 angiographies and has been recognized in the LIMCA Book of Records. He has held several prestigious positions, including President of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC) and Past President of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI).
With an extensive academic contribution, Dr. Seth has authored over 500 publications in peer-reviewed Indian and international medical journals. He has also contributed to 30 cardiology books and has edited three books. As a dedicated teacher, he has trained over 500 cardiologists in India and abroad in the latest angioplasty techniques.
He has been the Principal Investigator for several studies, particularly in the development of ‘Made in India’ medical devices, and serves as an honorary advisor/consultant to medical device innovation firms such as Meril, Abbott, and SMT. Additionally, he plays a key role in training interventional cardiologists in the TAVI technique as a proctor for Myval, Evolut, and Accurate Neo transcatheter valves.
